"What Dreams Are Made Of"

“Being in the right place at the right time, tracking down a fully laden pohutukawa in bloom in such a perfect setting and being there on a beautiful day, is a lot more difficult than most people think! These delicate blooms are at their best only a few days & a good flowering season happens maybe once every 5 years. No pressure then! So after stalking this tree over nearly three weeks, it was on this third trip, that it was finally out. But to my dismay when I arrived in the morning, the skies were cloudy. There was no way I was going to miss this, so I waited to see if things might improve. And after several hours the cloud gradually burnt away, revealing this clear blue sky, wow! The high summer sun now lit the whole scene brilliantly & I used a polarising filter to cut the surface reflections, which released the spectacular colours of these pristine waters. The guy on his board was surfing the break the whole morning & there was just a dozen or so people at the far end of the beach. This iconic 50's bach defines absolute paradise & for me, is what dreams are made of.”
