“I was on the road at 3am this morning, crossing my fingers all the way from Auckland to the Desert road, that the mountains might remain clear for a shoot. I arrived pre-dawn & waited for the sun to rise into position, until the first rays of light created these long shadows across the ground. With Mt.Ruapehu on the left & Mt. Ngaruhoe's cone on the right, the early morning light & heavy frost highlighted the unique features of this wondrous landscape."
