“I captured this striking panorama on 1st January 2015, after first discovering this idyllic location two years earlier - so it was a great way to start the new year! Both previous years were poor seasons for the pohutukawa flowers, but I finally managed to time it right on this particular morning. This normally popular cove was all but empty, the weather was beautiful & the crimson blooms were at their best! Sensational structure with the twisted branches, this is definitely one of my favourite summer scenes that I find particularly striking in a black or white oval frame. Absolute paradise!"
