“I discovered this sensational tree by accident, as I followed a random track along the shores of lake Pukaki, searching for views of Mt. Cook. I initially drove past this spot when the tree had been in shadow & was forced to stop as a tree had fallen, blocking the track. Discovering a mass of toadstools under the trees, by the time I had shot these & reversed back, the sun was now lighting this view from my driver's side - "quick STOP!!" It really was the most magnificent display of light & colour."
